"This weekend turned me around so much," he says, his eyes burning with the passion of some unknown fuel, "that I could never go back to what I was doing." The two young men, of course, were Mike and Artie. They had met while Artie was at Capitol and Mike stopped in there with a group he was managing, The Train. Both had sidelines. Kornfeld, president of the class of 1964 at Adelphi University, had made a name for himself as the producer and lyricist of a big-money group, The Cowsills. Lang, a New York University drop-out, who had run a Miami "head shop" (posters, Zig-Zag papers, pipes and other drug paraphernalia), was dealing in posters and more profitable stuff in the East Village.
