The three composers ushered in the Aquarian age with a hit musical, Hair, which opened off-Broadway at the New York Public Theatre on October 29, 1967, and moved to the Biltmore Theatre on Broadway on April 29, 1968, where it remained for 1,742 performances. Only two Broad- way musicals provided number one singles during the rock era: Hello, Dolly! with a version of the title tune by Louis Armstrong [see 146] and Hair, which dominated the Hot 100 on May 10, 1969, with the Fifth Dimension's "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In" in the number one position and the Cowsills' version of "Hair" in second place. . . .

The Poppy FAMILY sounded like they might have been Canada's answer to the Cowsills. Actually, the family consisted only of husband and wife Terry and Susan Jacks and they had two hits in 1970: "Which Way You Goin', Billy?" which peaked at number two, and "That's Where I Went Wrong," which managed to get to number 29.
