The pandemonium and mayhem surrounding Beatlemania had commonly spread to concerts such as those listed above. On 25 July 1966, the Hollywood Bowl hosted an equally action-packed bill featuring The Rolling Stones, The Standells, The Byrds, The Buffalo Springfield, The McCoys and The Tradewinds. At New York’s Yankee Stadium, the double-headline bill for Sound Blast ’66 featured Ray Charles, The Raelets and Orchestra and The Beach Boys in concert with They Byrds, Stevie Wonder, Jerry Butler, The McCoys, The Marvelettes, The Gentrys, The Cowsills and The Guess Who (performing ‘Shaking’ All Over’). Whatever the behind-the-scenes politics may have been in the record business, the audience was having a pretty damn good time.
