Sang back up on a country record with Susan Cowsill and I recorded 'If I Only Had A Brain' with Shamarr for a children's record featuring other New Orleans artists called Funky Kidz.

Ivan Neville on B3, Raymond Weber of Dumpstaphunk on drums, Matt Perrine on bass and tuba, David Torkanowsky on piano and accordion, James Andrews and Shamarr Allen on trumpet, Craig Klein of Bonerama and Big Sam of Big Sam's Funky Nation on trombones, Fredy Omar joining me to sing two songs in Spanish, Sonia Tetlow on guitar and mandolin, and Susan Cowsill on vocals.

Susan Cowsill and the orchestra of voices within her brought the right touch of June to my Johnny on 'Johnny and His June', which I wrote with Mary Lasseigne and Shelly, a track meant to honor outlaw love. Susan's layered harmonies make 'Sedation' sound like a cross between the Beatles, Beach Boys and XTC. She sang about five harmonies on the song and heard another twenty in her head that she could have sung.

With all of it's problems, I feel happier here in New Orleans and I'm glad to be back in the city, as sweet Susan Cowsill sings, "Where I know who I am." I'll wake up here tomorrow. Page 113:

The songs keep coming and I am increasingly blessed to have voices like John Boutre, Glen David Andrews, Shamarr Allen, Susan Cowsill and my favorite new band, The Eli Young Band, sing tunes of mine. I'm thankful.
