The innocence of his gesture, and its lack of artifice, moved her. Instinctively, she started whistling the tune of the Cowsills song that Jack Hamilton sang, off-key and with made-up lyrics, to her years ago: Flowers in your fair, flowers everywhere, I love you, flower girl.
