There also were American civilian women volunteers called "Donut Dollies" who played guessing games and board games with us. They refused most offers to play spin the bottle. There were Vietnamese and Filipino bands that played a couple of times a week at the enlisted men's club. They knew all the right songs and usually encored with "We Gotta Get out of This Place." There was a band that played on weekends at Tiger Lake, a sandy rest-and-relaxation site within the base. They did songs by Led Zeppelin, the Temptations, the Four Tops, Iron Butterfly, Three Dog Night, and the Cowsills - anything to help us forget where we were. Sometimes we did.
