(Partridge Family based) ...on a late 1960s band called the Cowsills. Yes, Mother Cowsill did indeed play rock with her kids. To make things really confusing, David Cassidy’s real-life stepmother Shirley Jones starred as Cassidy’s Partridge Family mom. None of the Partridges except for Cassidy and Jones sang or played instruments on the records released by the band. However, David Cassidy emerged as one of the great teen idols of the 1970s. Everyone was even more stunned when David and his TV brother Danny Bonaduce slipped – for a time – down the slope of drugs, sex, and debauchery. Said TV talk-show host Geraldo Rivera to the former child rock star, “Bonaduce they just can’t kill you, can they?”
