Daryl's uncle and aunt invited me a few times for dinner to their house. It was such a treat for me to be invited to a home-cooked meal after eating in the mess hall for so long. Once evening I was invited by these friendly people to the Officer's Club to see the Cowsills perform. This was a band made up of family members, similar to the Partridge Family. Having little opportunity to hear such performers in the United States, I thought the Cowsills were just great. They transcended warmth and comfort, reminding me of home. This entertainment was followered by a wonderful meal of all four of us enjoyed some German dishes and pleasant conversation.
