Cowsills

The Cowsills played the RFD-TV Theatre in Branson, Missouri from Monday July 27- Friday August 8. I had the honor of being present on opening night. It all started with the showing of the "Some Good Years" video to help those you needed a little reminding who The Cowsills are to get caught up to speed. They started with "Monday, Monday", ended with "Hair" and I loved every note! There were two sets with an intermission.

Highlights for me were Susan singing "Nanny's Song" acoustically (gorgeous) and Bob, Paul and Susan singing "Helplessly Hoping". The set list was packed with the hits ("Indian Lake", "Hair", "The Rain, The Park and Other Things", "We Can Fly", "Love American Style") along with some of my favs "Most Of All", "Covered Wagon", "Deliver Me", and "Bitter Jest" and many more. Although I've heard all these live before, the songs I've least heard live were "Day Tripper", "Helplessly Hoping" and "You On My Mind." Russ liked the starry background. I think Bob was accusing him of getting lost in the stars. Ryan and Brendon did great (fun to see the talents of the second generation - or would this be 3rd????) and Mary was a pro as usual.

The running joke of the night was when Susan was/could be in the band. So when Susan started the second 1/2 alone, she was letting the boys know who was the band. hee

They used footage from AFT2 with Shirley Jones to introduce "I Think I Love You." Brought back such memories of Billy's benefit. Sad but wonderful to see Barry on the screen. (And nice to see Richard up there too - and a glimpse of John if you knew who you were looking for and of course I did hee.) Overall, just fantastic as we all expect. It's been awhile since I've seen them live (what 4-5 years????) so that was a great time for me. Fun also seeing Kathy McW. for the first time in a number of years also.

Missing piece? SOMEONE forgot to even so much as mention a certain missing drummer. Even my Mom noticed that LOL I missed you John !!!!
