The St. Germains per part of Cowsill nation for several reasons. The St. Germains bought Halidon Hall after the Cowsills and yet still allowed Cowsills to be a part of it. Barry was married on the lawn after the C's no longer owned the property. Members of the Cowsills were allowed to visit often. Secondly, Barry and Fernand's daughter, Lisette, dated for some time. And, lastly, Lisette ask Susan to join her in caring for Fernand in his final days. Susan wrote on Facebook:
Dear sweet friends... Please send up those excellent prayers of which you are so wonderful at for the St Germain family of Newport RI..
The Congressman , Fernand J St Germain departed planet earth at 6:25, on the 16th day of August 2014. Freddie was surrounded by his two daughters, myself and the Ekstrom family when he crossed over. He had smooth sailing ever since his return to his beloved home of Halidon Hall all do to his youngest daughter Lisette. She single handedly (with the help of some dear friends) took care of his medical needs for two years, taking him to and from hospital visits and even taking the bus to Boston if and when necessary to visit him. When all that could be done for him was, she took the very brave steps to bring him home where he could be at peace and in his elements. His oldest daughter came in the last couple of days to join us and bring her love and assistance to her dad's crossing.. Freddie was visibly cheered and heartened to have his girls by his side for his next journey..I was very blessed to have been asked to co pilot with Lisette for Freddie's last week and ultimately, last flight.
So here's to you Mr Chairman, may there be many parties, lots of music, and your wife by your side as you ready for your next election...
It was an honor and a privledge to be by your side. And the greatest fun to be your night nurse... Those were some crazy wonderful chats we had, none of which I will soon forget! Say hello to my mom and dad and the rest of my tribe for me!
Let's do it!
Let's do it Let's do it!!!
Lets go Let's go Let's go!!
Peace Freddie,
Love,
Champ

Former RI Congressman Fernand St Germain has died
Former U.S Congressman Fernand J. St Germain, who served Rhode Island’s First Congressional District from 1961 to 1989, died Monday, according to U.S. Rep. David N. Cicilline.
He was 86.
St Germain's daughter, Lisette, says the congressman died Saturday at his home in Newport, according to the Associated Press. She said he suffered from kidney failure.
“Congressman St Germain was a soldier, accomplished lawyer and distinguished public servant,” Cicilline said. “The son of a mill worker from Woonsocket, Congressman St Germain was a strong voice for middle class families in Congress where he rose to serve as Chairman to the powerful House Banking Committee.
“For nearly three decades he devoted his life to public service and faithfully served the people of Rhode Island in the United States Congress. His legacy will continue to benefit our state for years to come. Like all Rhode Islanders, I deeply mourn his loss and extend my condolences to the entire St Germain family.”
