Oath Of Allegiance.
To The
United States Government.

I, Joseph Weber County of Marion State of Arkinsas do solemnly
swear that I will support, protect and defend the Constitution and Government of the United States, and the Provisional
Government of the State of Missouri, against all enemies, whether domestic or foreign; that I will bear true faith, allegiance
and loyalty to the same, any ordinance, resolution or law of the State Convention or Legislature to the contrary
not withstanding; and, further, that I will well and faithfully perform all the duties which be requires of me
by the laws of the United States. And I take this oath without any mental reservation or evasion whatsoever, with a
full and clear understanding, that death or punishment by the judgment of a Military Commission, will be the penalty
for the violation of this, my solemn oath. And I also swear, that under no consileration will I go beyond the military
lines of the United States forces, so help me God.

Statement of Joseph Weber
age 45 years.
I reside in Marion County, Arks. I had never
belonged to the Southern army, or any independant
company. I was arrested on the 17th of October
by the M.P.M. I don't know what I was arrested for, was brought to Springfield Mo. on the 20th of October
I have never taken the oath of allegiance or
enrolled in the malitia. My reason for not
having taken the oath is beause I was never
called on for either taking the oath or enrolling.
I am a senior man and always was. I am in
favor of the present administration, and opposed
to the Southern Confederacy. I am will to
take the oath of allegiance and enroll in the
malitia.

Charges against Joseph Weber of the Parish
of John The Baptist
In this the said Joseph Weber did
on or about the 20 day of June arm
himself and together with the other person arrested
one Henry Thomas a colored man and
hold him in custody for two days- also
the said Joseph Weber did at the time
to have mentiond whip and beat the said
Henry Thomas thereby causing him great
injury. Also the said Joseph Weber is
charge with entering with the line of
the Federal army with intention of passing
out without the consent of the Federal authorities
this upon the 1st day of July 1863
