This Adam Winthrop was born August 10, 1548 in London, England. He was a lawyer by profession and also an auditor of St. John's and Trinity Colleges, Cambridge, England.

He first married an Alice Still and had several daughters. Then he married Anne Browne in about 1586.

To this union the following know children were born: 1. John, born January 12, 1587, died March 26, 1649 2. Anne, born 1586, died 1619 3. Jane, born 1592 4. Lucy, born 1601, died 1679
