William and Alice (Beam) Kitchen



William Kitchen was born in 1761 in New Jersey. He moved to the Niagara Peninsula, Canada, about 1790 and in that year was granted land on 30 Mile Creek in the Township of Clinton, Lincoln County, lot 22 in the 4th Cession, where he built a mill. About the same time he was granted lots A and B in the Grimsby Gore, Grimsby Township, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada. In 1791 William Kitchen was a member of the Grimsby Township council, serving as one of the two "overseers of roads," and in 1796 he was appointed "assessor."

William Kitchen married on May 23, 1782 in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Alice "Elsey" Beam, who was born in 1763.

William Kitchen died in 1813 and is buried in St. Andrew's Anglican churchyard, Grimsby, Ontario. Alice Kitchen died in 1848 and is buried in the same cemetery.
