William and Anna (Wallace) Hixson
William Hixson was born in 1812 in Ontario, Canada, probably in or near Grimsby, Lincoln County. He married, March 16, 1833 in Hamilton, Ontario, Anna Wallace who was born December 17, 1810 in Montgomery, Orange County, New York. Their marriage records that he was a carpenter. The bondsman for the wedding were Timothy Cooper and Solomon Wallace. It is recorded that her parents were members of the Dutch Reform Church.
According to a letter written in 1898 by his son, Joseph, as a young man William was in sympathy with the McKenzie Rebellion in Ontario and when it was suppressed in 1837 he left Canada and moved to Aurora, Indiana, where he lived until 1844. Then moving to Missouri he lived in Carroll and Livingston Counties from 1844 until 1860. William may have lived in Stone County, Missouri, for awhile after 1860 but probably moved to Arkansas during the 1860's. In 1880 he was living in Stone County, Arkansas, listed as a millwright.
To this union four known children were born: 1. Joseph, born August 4, 1835, died December 28, 1903 2. Hamilton, died in 1840 3. Levi, born about 1840, died in 1862 4. William, born about 1844, died after 1924.
William Hixson died November 7, 1881 in Stone County, Arkansas. Anna Hixson died between 1844 and 1850,probably in Carroll or Livingston County, Missouri.
