Hawkins House
Preston, Webster County, Georgia
The first section of this house was built in 1830 which means 5 generations of Hawkins lived here including Willis Alston Hawkins, Dr. Sion Boon Hawkins, John Willis Alston Hawkins, Henry Estes Hawkins and Harry Estes Hawkins. The dates of 1830, 1850, 1901, and 1935 were painted over the front porch, indicating years that additions were placed on the house. The house is no longer standing. It was torn down in the mid 1980's. The Hawkins plantation grew mostly cotten and some peanuts. The Hawkins did own slaves.
