John and Margaret (Berkeley) Kimbrough Sr.
John Kimbrough Sr. was born about 1654 in England. John Kimbrough was at Port Tobacco, Maryland from 1667 to 1674. A Cecil County, Maryland court proceeding in the state library notes he owned considerable property. Also he sat on juries with members of the Calvert family and the Lord Baltimore's Records of the Virginia Council also show that a pension was granted to John Kimbrough for lameness in 1680, and continued until 1712. Land office records show thousands of acres of land granted to John Kimbrough in New Kent, King William, and Hanover counties for paying passage of, or buying "head rights" of immigrants, at fifty acres each.
