Dear Mother, Brother and Sisters                      September 6, 1827


I now embrace this opportunity of writing to you to inform you that I am in good health at present thank God for his mercies hoping this few lines may find you all the same. I have bin three or four months on the ________ where I am pleased wonderful with the country the land is very good and three times better than I ever expected to see anywhere but I have had the misfortune to lose my _________ and as such you need not to look for me this faul for I don't expect to come but I want you to write to me whether you expect to come or not where I know you can do a great deal better on rented land than you can where you are on land of your own and if you expect to come write to me as soon as possible and I will try to rent you a place. Corn can be had at one dollar per bushel and ______ at two and a half to three dollars per hundred Land rents from 2 ½ to 3 bushels per acor which brings in a good season from 8 to 16 bushels per acor and dear brother I want you to come where you can live so much better than you can where you are You can git five times as much weaving as you can do for plane cloth a penny a hundred _____ six shillings for _________ or doble wove cloth 12 ½ sintes per yard and for bed clothing in proportion higher I must inform you of the game and fish on _______ There is more _____ I ever saw in my life __________________ and the best country for fresh water fish that I ever saw And I am living with Wm. A. Fulghim where I expect to continue for a while within three miles of Franklin and if you write to me ________it to Franklin post office.
